イネの生育に必須である鉄の利用を調節するタンパク質を発見

　生物資源工学研究所 植物細胞工学研究室の小林高範教授の研究グループは、鉄の利用を調節するイネのタンパク質を明らかにしました。植物にとって鉄は、生存のために必須の元素ですが、土壌中のほとんどの鉄は植物が利用できる形では存在していません。鉄を土壌中から吸収して体内を輸送し利用するために、植物はさまざまな遺伝子を必要な時に働かせるための調節を行っています。小林教授らは、この調節を行う重要なタンパク質である OsHRZ を発見し、このタンパク質の働きについて研究を続けてきました。今回、小林教授らは、OsHRZ と結合して分解され、鉄の輸送、利用を促進する機能を持つタンパク質としてOsbZIP83、OsGRX6、OsGRX9を同定しました。OsbZIP83 は bZIP 型転写因子と呼ばれるグループに属しており、鉄の体内輸送に関わる遺伝子の発現を促進する役割を担っていました。OsGRX6, OsGRX9 はグルタレドキシンと呼ばれるグループに属しており、鉄の体内利用に関連していました。
