アブラムシのカロテノイド生合成遺伝子の機能を解明し、赤とんぼとの深い繋がりを実証しました

石川県立大学・三沢典彦 教授らの研究グループは、生産開発科学研究所等と共同で、アブラムシのカロテノイド生合成遺伝子の機能を世界で初めて解明しました。アブラムシは動物界の中で例外的に、体内で「植物色素」カロテノイドを作ることがきます。アブラムシは、ゲラニルゲラニル二リン酸（GGPP）という物質からカロテノイドを作りますが、そのために４つの遺伝子が必要であること、そのうちの１つの遺伝子はアブラムシだけで進化し、特殊なカロテノイドを産出するために働くことを発見しました。さらに、その特殊なカロテノイドを指標に、アブラムシから、赤とんぼなどの捕食者に連なる食物連鎖の実態を解明しました。
